The idea behind the photo suite Diamonds Dancing was born during a trip to Saint Petersburg where Peirone visited the Hermitage museum. In their vast collection numerous examples of neoclassicism can be found, for example The Three Gracesby Antonio Canova. The sculpture depicts the three mythological girls Euphrosyne, Aglaea and Thalia – beauty, mirth and elegance. As daughters to Zeus they entertained guests at parties at the Gods.
