VOLTA NEW YORK

MAY 18 – 22, 2022
548 WEST 22ND STREET

In 2022, VOLTA Art Fairs returns to New York during Frieze Week from May 18 to 22 at 548 West 22nd Street, the former Dia Building and Hauser & Wirth gallery space.

INDA Gallery participates in international art fairs such as Paris Photo, FIAC, VOLTA New York, Photo London, Art Dubai, Contemporary Istanbul, viennaartfair, and others.

Matthias van Arkel’s (1967) silicon paintings are a 21st century continuation of abstract expressionism and also a crossover with design. Through his choice of material (silicon, made from sand, the most ubiquitous material), surviving heat, light, extreme weather conditions, his work is a metaphor of the presence, survival, sustainability and accessibility of art in private and public spaces.

His works on view this week at VOLTA are monumental in their show of emotion. ”Some artists working in abstraction focus on experimenting with materials. What gets me going is adding personal expression — an original melody of sorts that responds to my emotional environment,” he says.
